Our next Morocco Volunteer Program will be taking place Dec. 20 – 31, 2017!

This program will provide volunteers with insight into various challenges faced by individuals living in rural communities and metropolitan areas.  Volunteers will work in health clinics and also have the opportunity to participate in farming activities in the Moroccan countryside and visit a local school and orphanage.

Who can apply?

The program is designed for Muslim men and women over 18 years of age who reside in the US and Canada. Deadline to apply is Sept. 1! Applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis once application forms are available online.

Schedule

A day-by-day schedule will be provided closer to the date of the trip, but the following is a tentative itinerary (subject to change):

Day 1 Departure to Morocco/Marrakech city
Day 2 Arrival in Marrakech, Hotel check-in and evening visit to famous Jamelfena square
Day 3 Travel Day: Departure to Riad Imsouane village (passing through Essaouira city) after visiting Marrakech Museum and souk
Day 4 Volunteer at elementary school; Afterschool Program Evening Group Reflection Session and Halaqa
Day 5 Health Education in Aftass/Imsouane, Dental Hygiene Workshop, 5K race, Women’s Argan Oil Cooperative; Hike to Tildi Village
Day 6 Farming Project in Teldiwater-front Village, Hike to Riad village Travel Day: Departure and tour of Agadir City
Day 7 Hospital Internship: Volunteer at Hassan II Hospital or orphanage in Agadir. Group Brainstorm session – Journals and Action Plan meeting
Day 8 Hospital Internship: Volunteer at Hassan II Hospital or orphanage in Agadir.
Day 9 Hospital Internship: Volunteer at Hassan II Hospital or orphanage in Agadir. Evening Group Reflection Session and Halaqa
Day 10 Wrap-up Day: Last day of touring; Certificate Graduation Ceremony
Day 11 Departure to US

Cost

The cost of the trip is $1,550 (excluding international airfare.)  The price will include all transportation, meals, accommodations, and materials while in Morocco.  The trip fee does not include your international travel (i.e. home to/from Morocco).

Volunteers are responsible for collecting the full amount before departing for the trip.  We encourage volunteers to actively fundraise in their communities and we will provide resources to help facilitate the fundraising process.
