About

In Mexico, volunteers will spend time at an orphanage in Tepoztlan, a rural area outside Mexico City, where they will tutor students, assist in orphanage renovation projects, and greenhouse planting activities.

Who can apply?

The program is especially designed for Muslim men and women over 18 years of age. Applications are reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis once application forms are available online.

Schedule

A day-by-day schedule will be provided closer to the date of the trip, however the following provides a tentative itinerary (subject to change):

Day 1 Leave home, Arrive in Mexico City, Dinner at Airport, Arrive at Tashirat
Day 2 Yoga (optional), Morning Orientation, Tour of Tashirat facility. Orphanage Visit, Visit on site School, Tour School Site, Tutorial Activities, Soccer Game
Day 3 Yoga, Renovation Project, Tutorial Activities continued with school children, Mentorship – Classroom projects, Soccer
Day 4 Yoga, Renovation Project, Tutorial Activities continued with school children, Mentorship – Classroom projects
Day 5 Yoga, Renovation Project, Tutorial Activities continued with school children, Mentorship – Classroom projects
Day 6 Day in the Town – Mountain Climb, Lunch and shopping in the Town, Wrap up day – Journals, Packing, Team Project meeting
Day 7 Leave for Airport, Departure to the States

Cost

The cost of the program is $1100 (excluding international airfare.)  The cost will include all meals, activities, accommodations, and travel cost within Mexico.  You will be responsible for all international travel (i.e. travel between your home and Mexico).

Volunteers are responsible for submitting the full amount before departing for the trip.  We encourage volunteers to actively fundraise in their communities and we will provide resources to help facilitate the fundraising process.
