Leadership Award

The objective of the UFS Leadership Program is to recognize and provide financial support to young North American Muslims who are participating in a UFS global volunteer program and have demonstrated a dedication to community service. The Program awards a scholarship to  individuals who embody UFS’s mission to advance social responsibility and have demonstrated leadership in the global and / or local community.

UFS Leadership Award Application

Requirements:

  • Must be accepted to a UFS global volunteer program;

  • Submit a separate application for the leadership award once accepted to a global program;

  • Demonstrate active community service involvement and strong leadership;

  • Must not have received the award before.

Process:

  • Applicants must be accepted to a UFS global volunteer program in order to be eligible to apply for the leadership award;

  • The deadline to apply is two weeks before the program deadline;

  • Applicant(s) may be interviewed by phone;

  • The value of the leadership awards will be up to $500 and will be determined based on the applicants’ qualifications;

  • The funds will be awarded AFTER the service requirement is completed and the volunteer demonstrates service excellence during the program and also fulfills program requirements (program survey, trip report, testimonial) after returning home;

  • Award recipients are required to commit to staying involved with UFS for a minimum of one year after the completion of their global volunteering program.  This can happen in many ways, including (but not limited to):

    • by attending and/or promoting regional UFS activities and programs; OR

    • playing an active role with the UFS management team;
